    The art of the sweep

Scopa is a two-player game with 40 cards. Each suit has values 1–10: ace = 1, jack = 8, horse = 9, king = 10. You and Luca receive three cards each, with four face up on the table.

    1. Choose one card. Take a table card of equal value. If there is no equal card, take a group that adds to your card. A 5 can take 2 + 3.
    2. Exact matches come first. With 5, 2, 3 on the table, your 5 must take the 5. If your card can capture, it must. Otherwise lay it on the table.
    3. Clear the table. Take all table cards in one capture for a scopa: one extra point! The very last play of the round never earns a sweep.
    4. Keep going. Three more cards are dealt when both hands are empty. At the end, the last capturer receives the leftover table, with no sweep bonus.

    Five ways to score

Most captured cards, most coins, and the 7 of Coins each earn a point. Primiera earns one point for the best total of one card per suit: 7 = 21, 6 = 18, ace = 16, 5 = 15, 4 = 14, 3 = 13, 2 = 12, faces = 10. You need all four suits. Ties earn nothing. Add one point per sweep.

Finish a round with at least 11 points and a two-point lead to win. Dealer alternates each round. Luca chooses moves using only the public table and his own cards.

Controls: choose a hand card, choose a capture, then Play. You can also select table cards directly. Keys 1–3 select your hand; Enter plays; U undoes. Advice highlights a suggested move. Progress saves on this device when storage is available.
